Short-Term Exchange/Visiting Students

I. Purpose of Health Examination

In compliance with the Ministry of Health and Welfare's (MOHW) policies to prevent the importation of measles and rubella cases, and to strengthen campus tuberculosis (TB) control, short-term non-degree students (including exchange students, visiting students, and Chinese language students) are kindly requested to undergo health examinations. These examinations must comply with the "Reference Items for Health Examinations of Foreign Students, Overseas Chinese Students, and Students from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao" issued by the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC), as well as the "National Cheng Kung University Implementation Guidelines for Student Health Examinations and Disease Screenings."

II. Required Health Examination Items for Short-Term Students

  • Proof of Positive Antibody Titers or Vaccination Certificates for Measles and Rubella

    • Action for NCKU Staff: Please remind students in admissions documents that if they have already obtained a positive antibody test report (test date must be $<5$ years from the school's admission deadline) or a vaccination certificate (no expiration date, but the vaccination must have been administered after 1 year of age) in their home country, they may directly use the forms published by the Taiwan CDC. Alternatively, they can have the document translated into Chinese or English, verified by a Taiwan overseas representative office, and bring it to Taiwan for verification during registration.

    • Alternative: Students who, for any reason, fail to complete this in their home country may have the Health Service Division assist in arranging a make-up examination at the National Cheng Kung University Hospital (NCKUH) in Tainan within 14 days after enrollment.

  • Chest X-ray for Tuberculosis (TB)

    • Action for NCKU Staff: Please remind students in admissions documents to undergo a chest X-ray for TB in their home country within 3 months prior to arriving in Taiwan. They may directly use the forms published by the Taiwan CDC, or have the document translated into Chinese or English, verified by a Taiwan overseas representative office, and bring it to Taiwan for verification during registration.

    • Alternative: Students who, for any reason, fail to complete this in their home country may have the Health Service Division assist in arranging a make-up examination at NCKUH within 14 days after enrollment.

V. Subsequent Procedures for Resident Certificate Changes

On the day of the health exam, students must inform the counter staff of the specific purpose of their examination during check-in and payment so that the counter can assist with the correct arrangements.
